Exercises to be done to recover from an ankle sprain.
FASTREHAB says: Doing rehabilitation exercises should involve weight bearing since that is how you will be using your ankle when you are back to normal activity.
If you don’t do weight bearing exercises and you just do the exercises shown in the video, you will have “spots” where you move your ankle that will cause you pain and will result in a loss of range of motion and potentially arthritis or scar tissue setting up in the ankle joint.
In addition, nothing in this rehab protocol involves re-calibrating of the foot position compared to what the brain thinks the position the foot is in.
University studies have shown that if the proprioceptors are not rehabbed, then the chances of a future more serious sprains are virtually 100%.
