The first question almost everyone asks after they’ve sprained their ankle is, “How bad is it?” but right behind that is, “How long will it take to recover?”
If you spend any time researching on the internet, 99% of the sites will tell you that it will take 4-6 weeks to recover completely from a sprained ankle.
The reason that it takes so long is because the common response from medical professionals and most websites is that a sprained ankle is supposed to be treated using the R.I.C.E. protocol.
R.I.C.E. stands for
Some people have gone so far as to change the common RICE to DR. ICE.
That just stands for Diagnosis, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
The problem is that there is no rehab part on either one of these. That is why it takes so long to heal from an ankle injury.
But if you take a more aggressive approach to treating your ankle sprain, you can reduce your recovery from weeks to just days.
